Tuesday night rocked when The Smashing Pumpkins took the stage in Salt Lake City.
Fans jammed to 33 songs for three hours at the Vivint Smart Home Arena.
Our own Lindsey Armstrong went to the show. She liked how Billy Corgan addressed SLC saying, “Thank You, Kindly.”
“They were so awesome,” says Lindsey. “The show was more like a theatre production, they just sounded great!”
ALT 101.9 Facebook Friend Kim Cuddeback tells us she, “Loved the show! It was so much more than what I expected!”
The Smashing Pumpkins started their set with ‘Disarm.’
A few songs later they broke out some David Bowie and sang “Space Oddity.” Other covers included Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Landslide’ and Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven.’
The band played most of their staples off ‘Siamese Dream.’
Angela Valerio says she “Loved It!” when The Smashing Pumpkins broke out ‘Mayonaise.’
Not all fans were happy with the massive set.
“As excited as I was for this show, Billy’s performance seemed lackluster. He faded in and out of the mic a lot,” says ALT 101.9 Facebook Friend Troy Sluka. “The stage show was amazing but from the 3rd row[,] he seemed to phone it in, almost pretentious. Still a phenomenal show though. I dug the Bowie and Zeppelin covers. I’ll always love the Pumpkins.”
Fans tell ALT 101.9 the imagery and lights for each song kept them wanting more.
Under blue lights and to wrap up the set, fans sang along to ‘Today.’ Those lights quickly changed to the word ZERO. Then came the fiery red tapestry lights as the band killed ‘Bullet with Butterfly Wings.’
